Mark Cox grew up in Carmi, Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Mark continued his education at the University of Illinois, where he earned his Masters of Business Administration (MBA).
Mark began his professional career at the corporate headquarters of Amoco Corporation in Chicago, Illinois. He spent nine years with Amoco, both in Chicago and Denver, Colorado. Mark received five promotions during this time and was a Manager of Business Development when he left the company to enter his family's business.
Mark's passion was to help people with their financial planning, which led him to join Northwestern Mutual in 1991. Mark earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™( CFP ®) certification in 1993 and his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1995.
In 1997, Mark was appointed Managing Partner of the Evansville Regional office, which included Southwestern Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southeastern Illinois. He served in this leadership capacity through 2005.
